Join Candace and a small group of friends for this 8 week deeply restorative online course as we shift the orientation of our lives from “Pressure to Perform to Simple and Authentic Being”. This is a journey of arriving here, over and over again, in the present moment. Because so many of us carry the impact of undigested trauma we feel a great disconnect from ourselves; from each other; from nature and the present moment. We long for peace and simplicity, yet we are somewhere else lost in the reactivity of past and the future.
How can we learn to be gentle with the parts of us that have only known survival?
This online series will provide clear understanding and support for attuning to the needs of the traumatized physiology while gently supporting the nervous system to recognize safety and align with the true nature of self in the present moment. This is a path of returning over and over again to the direct experience of the present moment while reinforcing the pathway of returning in the bodies neural systems.
“The essence of your meetings brings this visual to mind. We’re all on an open boat that you’re gently and effortless paddling. We’re in beautiful peaceful waters amidst lush and lovely natural surroundings. You’re in no hurry, going here, then perhaps idling, going there, and pointing out the beautiful scenery around us, and pointing gently to the landscapes inside us, as if there were no difference. Sometimes there is joy, sometimes there are tears, and always there is what is…” ~ Participant
The impact of trauma is experienced in our diminished capacity to recognize reality as simply what is without an overlay. In service to survival we forget our nature of simple; authentic; peaceful and alive presence. Through no fault of our own we lost our sense of connection to our own true nature and connection to the present moment. We often feel caught in the survival currents of chaos; intensity and complexity. We are adrift and longing to be anchored here and at rest in our own experience. The momentum of our lives is reduced to managing insecurity; fear and anxiety rather than being grounded here in the simple, ordinary and peaceful nature of right now. This is the human condition.
Over the course of eight sessions, you will be learning to listen and tend to what your traumatized system really needs to settle into it’s natural state of ease and receptivity. You will learn to orient your physiology towards safety and provide a reliable anchor into the present moment. This groundwork is essential to your traumatized physiology. You will learn how to dissolve the tension, bracing and contractions in the body with your compassionate presence; gentle attunement and steady devotion.
“One of the most subtly profound and gently deep experiences I have ever had has been joining you in this workshop. Thank you so much.” ~ Participant
As your orientation begins to shift away from identifying with the patterns of the survival self and away from the exhausting effort of forcing, fixing, or fighting the momentum of past trauma you may begin to experience a greater sense of alignment with life as it is unfolding right now.
Slowly, the nervous system begins to soften out of protection and into presence.
As the proper conditions are provided for the physiology, qualities that may have been dormant can begin to emerge naturally from within. Not through striving, but through safety, care, and relationship. The traumatized system does not settle through force, but through receiving what it did not get in childhood: gentleness, presence, attunement, patience, slowness, softness, consistency, compassion, protection, love, and devotion.
And as these qualities deepen, many people begin to notice a growing sense of aliveness — a feeling of being more intimately connected with themselves, others, nature, and life itself. What once felt defended or distant can gradually become more open, relational, and alive.
During this course, Candace invites you to:
- Practice arriving here in the present moment
- Learning to honour the protective role of the survival self.
- Practice orienting to the external environment as a source of safety and support.
- Recognize and rest in the quiet aware space of right now.
- Discover the reality where nothing needs to be different.
- The body longs for the qualities of our true nature of Presence.
- We learn to “borrow” safety and regulation and discover that we are not alone in this.
- Coming back to the present moment while reinforcing the neural pathways of returning.
With attuned teachings; slow and gentle repetition and simple neurosensory practices you will learn to:
- Pause and listen.
- Recognize home as right here.
- Discern between past and present.
- Find safety and support in the present moment.
- Recognize the difference between complexity and simplicity.
- Listen to and recognize what your physiology needs.
- Be attuned to the past as it’s still living in your physiology and to the quiet nature of present moment.
- Move with the natural impulses of contraction and expansion instead of against them.
- Learn to trust the present moment as the sacred ground of tending to the past and awakening your devotional heart.
- Embrace tenderness and compassion as messengers of mercy to the body.
