An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Friday, repeating until June 21, 2024
A Light in the Dark is a 6 week online course created by Trauma Therapist, Organic Intelligence Certified Coach and experienced Nervous System Practitioner Candace Kirby.
“As far back as I can remember I was looking for a place to call home. A place that was safe enough, slow enough, soft enough and stable enough for me to rest. A place where I could be at peace. A place where I could let down and simply be myself. I was looking for a sanctuary.” ~ Candace
We can rest here as we build more safety and capacity in our nervous system. When we are full of undigested trauma and stress it’s difficult to be here. The body is relating to life as a threat based on past events. The engine of survival says, “run for your life” and we listen as if our very survival depends on it. We can help the brain and nervous system recognize safety in the present moment and support the body to soothe and settle. We can find our home here.
“Spiritual practice means engaging with our immediate experience and when we have experienced trauma that can include frightening and overwhelming sensations and symptoms. For that reason we make safety, slowness and support a priority in our work together.” ~ Candace
When we’re unable to recognize that the past is repeating in our physiology we are at the mercy of our nervous system and our undigested trauma. We suffer over and over again and we also cause suffering for others. As we begin to understand the impact of trauma and the nervous system on our well being we can slowly begin to tend to ourselves with warmth, compassion and confidence. Healing trauma teaches us everything we need to know about love, patience, slowness, compassion, tenderness, respect, courage and strength.
“To realize the Infinite is to love your inner world.” ~ Adyashanti
The course material will help you understand and tend to the impact of trauma on your physiology; your authenticity; your health; your vitality; your relationships and ultimately how you perceive yourself and the world.
The practices are restorative; slow, simple and repetitive which the nervous system needs to settle and relax into her nature of gentle presence and flow. The safe container of the group will offer consistent support, compassionate presencing and attunement for your nervous system.
“This gentle work with Candace has been such an enormous gift. No pushing, no forcing. Allowing and welcoming everything as a real practice not as spiritual bypass. Not just meaningless words that cannot be sustained, but true substance, which allows and heals everything.
I am here, I have ground to stand on, I am gaining agency. I feel and know and love myself. Thank you so much.”
In this course we will engage in teachings, simple present moment practices; meditation, neurosensory practices, grounding, orientation and creative practices followed by questions and dialogue.
This is a slow and gentle process.
