When our hearts are burdened we want to be sure that we approach our inner world with patience, sincerity and slowness. We can get very complex in our practices and in our minds by analyzing everything that is happening but even if our analysis is right it won’t touch the heart.
Analysis is for the mind. Tenderness is for the heart.
The heart longs for the sweetness and sincerity of kind words, sensitive touch and merciful presence. The heart softens and opens to gentle and sincere attention.
The only way it is possible to fully meet emotional pain is to slow way down to where it lives in the body. When heartache calls to you through tension, pain or an ache in the body you can meet that pain with your own sweet presence. It’s always enough.
There is no need to work on yourself or manipulate yourself into a different state. Just be. Your body knows how to soften and release what she’s holding. It’s her nature to let go. Go slowly. Be patient when things don’t release as quickly as you would like them to. Bow to the wisdom of the body.
This is how we communicate, “I’m here for you” to our own heartache. When presence meets pain there is something magical and transformative that happens.
