I wondered “where is the
sweetness I have so longed for?”

And then I felt the warmth
of the sun on my face
and the gentle caress
of the wind on my arms.

The sound of a hummingbirds wings
and the chirp of a chickadee.

My puppy with her cold
nose in the air
senses alive and vibrating
with curiosity and playfulness.

The sound of traffic
soothing in its’ familiarity.

The warmth of my scarf
brushing up against my chin
and the crunchy crunch of gravel
under my feet.

And the warm salty sweetness
of tears on my cheek.
