SUMMARY:Healing Trauma and Awakening the Devotional Heart
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-safe and nervous system-informed practices.\nJoin Candace and a small group of friends for a transformative journey into Healing Trauma and Awakening the Devotional Heart. This online series will provide clarity\, direction and support for attuning to the traumatized physiology with gentle curiosity and a compassionate heart. \n\n“Thank you so much for your insights and loving\, tender and slow pace. For helping us learn how to listen and respond with kindness to our nervous system.”~ Participant \n\nThe imprint of trauma lives in the body as an over zealous\, protective\, highly reactive and primal impulse. It sends messages from the past that often have nothing to do with what is really happening. Those of us on a spiritual path eventually discover that all of our spiritual insights and practices have little impact on this highly activated system. This is a point of impasse for many of us as we are faced with the reality that spiritual bypass is no longer an option if we want to live an authentic and embodied life. \nOver the course of eight sessions\, you will be learning to listen and tend to what your traumatized system really needs to settle into it’s natural state of ease and receptivity. You will learn to orient your physiology towards safety and provide a reliable anchor into the present moment. This groundwork is essential to your traumatized physiology. You will learn how to dissolve the tension\, bracing and contractions in the body with your compassionate presence; gentle attunement and steady devotion. \nAs your orientation begins to shift from forcing and fighting against the “past” you will begin to come into a greater align with all that is right now. You will begin to notice that tending to undigested trauma begins to call forward qualities that were lying dormant in your psyche. The traumatized system will not settle for anything less than what it needs which is what it didn’t get in childhood. Gentleness; presence; attunement; patience; slowness; softness; consistency; compassion; protection; love and devotion. \nDuring this course\, Candace invites you to:\n\nRecognize and identify the unchanging qualities of Presence.\nSee urgency; complexity and reactivity as symptoms of the survival system.\nExplore your connection to the ground and the present moment.\nFind safety through the reiteration of simple experiential practices.\nCome into relationship with your traumatized physiology.\nAttune to the needs of your undigested past.\nLearn unconditional grace for the traumatized system.\nAllow your devotional heart to open naturally as a result of these practices.\n\nWith attuned teachings; slow and gentle repetition and simple neurosensory practices you will learn to:\n\nPause and listen.\nRecognize home as right here.\nDiscern between past and present.\nFind safety in the present moment.\nRecognize the difference between complexity and simplicity.\nListen to and recognize what your physiology needs.\nBe attuned to the past as it’s still living in your physiology and to the quiet nature of present moment.\nMove with the natural impulses of contraction and expansion instead of against them.\nCome to know that contraction isn’t only a movement towards protection but an impulse towards rest; retreat; slowness; quiet; contemplation; devotion and surrender and that expansion (opening) isn’t always unsafe but a natural impulse towards the authentic expression of our innate aliveness and connection with all things.\nLearn to trust the present moment as the sacred ground of tending to the past and awakening your devotional heart.\nEmbrace tenderness and compassion as messengers of mercy to the body.\n\nWhat to Expect\nEach session offers a blend of teachings\, guided practices\, optional sharing and listening exercises\, and interactive questions and answers. \nRegistration includes:\n\nAccess to all 8 live classes.\nAll class audio recordings.\nWeekly homework practices and primings for upcoming topics.\n\nTo arrange e-transfer payment for Canadian participants email candace@candacekirby.ca. \nIf cost is a barrier please message me.  I am happy to arrange a payment plan that fits within your budget.

SUMMARY:A Simple and Safe Morning Practice
DESCRIPTION:A Simple and Safe Morning Practice for the Sensitive or Traumatized Physiology\nAn online event with Candace Kirby\nJoin Candace and a small group of friends for this opportunity to learn and practice a simple and safe meditation and attunement practice. \nThis is a practice I have developed over the last couple of years as a support to trauma-healing. The goal of my work is to keep people safe and attuned to their nervous system in practice. \nTogether we will go over the steps and gain some familiarity with them as we settle into a practice together. \nI will provide all the participants with the steps to develop a practice on their own following the event. \n\n“Nobody chooses to experience trauma. Whether it’s a natural disaster\, a devastating accident\, or an act of interpersonal violence\, trauma often leaves people feeling violated and absent a sense of control. Because of this\, it’s vital that survivors feel a sense of choice and autonomy in their mindfulness practice. We want them to know that in every moment of practice\, they are in control. Nothing will be forced upon them. They can move at a pace that works for them\, and they can always opt out of any practice. By emphasizing self-responsiveness\, we help put power back in the hands of survivors. The body is central to this process. Survivors need to know they won’t be asked to override signals from their body\, but to listen to them—one way they’ll learn to stay in their window of tolerance.” ~ David A. Treleaven \n\nTo e-transfer payment for CDN participants – candacekirby@shaw.ca \nIf cost is a barrier please message me.  I am happy to accommodate.
